Hi Gerry,

Thanks for reaching out we are super appreciative especially in tricky times where stability feels so uncertain, we must look for positives in the situations we are able to manage and take each day as it comes. If you are feeling like you cant cope…..

Hi Pauline, Yes absolutely we understand sometimes we feel the media in particular concentrates on division, negativity rather than focusing on the positives and what brings us together. At RJVN8 we believe that connection is the antidote to loneliness and that we must support one another in times of trouble. Sometimes it can be very hard to set a positive example for others including children who are so receptive to our mood and behavior, you have conquered the first challenge in understanding you are facing challenges and that shows brilliant awareness. I would suggest limiting media exposure if you feel… Read more »

I am feeling low and isolated, I know the lock down is ending soon but I haven’t been able to socialise or meet with friends for so long now I have almost forgotten what it feels like. I have been drinking heavily in lock down mainly alone, I am finding it really hard to think outside of my own head and it feels like I am going mad.   I’m excited to re-unite with friends and family but have a sense of dread and anxiety about returning to work and how things will turn out.   Thanks for letting me… Read more »

Hi, We completely relate it is normal to feel unsure in such a period of uncertainty especially when the media focuses so much on fear and division. Please know that this is only temporary. We know how important it is in any form of recovery or managing anxiety depression and other mental challenges to take each day as it comes and try not to worry about what we cannot control and be concerned about the whole picture. Try to take bite size chunks of your day and form a routine mixed with activities you enjoy and are passionate about to… Read more »

Hi, thanks for your articles they’ve really helped. I’ve recently been feeling more stress and anxiety than usual because of lockdown. I’m missing my regular exercise routines and making up for it by eating less – I fear this is triggering old feelings of eating disorders. Does anyone else feel similar/have any coping methods?

Thanks,
Emma

Hi Emma that is brilliant to hear you can keep up with all of our articles via the link below. Is there anything you would like to hear more on? https://www.rjvn8.co.uk/events I think its very easy to change routine and lose motivation in a position of lockdown I have been using CBT therapy to concentrate on what I am able to change and let go of the the fear of the unknown in such a turbulent time.… Read more »

Today has been more optimistic, I am excited to go back to work but am anxious and nervous about going back to a full routine and staying motivated. It has been really tough to get used to the idea of going back to normality. I am worried about sending the kids back to school and managing family life all at once. I am managing with counselling support and careful planning.

Hi John, we totally identify with how you feel, it is not easy to re-adjust when a quarter of the year has gone by in lock down. The great thing to hear is that you have taken the step of putting in place a support program. Hope the counselling sessions are going well for you and planning is definitely valuable in such uncertain times. I have been working with a CBT focused therapist to manage what I can control and try to let go of fear of the unknown which has been a very useful tool in my life…

I’m feeling good today. Less anxious than normal. Always fearful that my anxiety or GAD will never go and I’ll have to live a life suffering from this but also hopeful that it may go. Does anyone have experience of generalised anxiety disorder going? I also feel that SSRI’s are making me more ill or are these the only way to cure anxiety?

Hi Nick, I identify with the above, I have had GAD for a many years now. This was a challenge for years I did not feel in control. I found this was made worse by circumstances such as stress at work, poor relationships, challenges with anger, jealousy… even small things would have an impact such as caffeine, nicotine, and definitely alcohol and substance misuse which at first masked the anxiety and depression but then made it worse. I was prescribed SSRIs to help with GAD, but did not feel that this was taking effect so turned to alcohol to take… Read more »
